I’m having my 17th birthday party on tuesday nov 10, 2009. So I need to go buy food and other things tomorrow. It’s going to be in the neighborhood pool, and a grill isn’t allowed in there. So I can’t have hotdogs/hamburgers and other things that need to be cooked. I was planning on bringing some doughnuts(floaties), about 10 boxes of pizza’s, soda, and water. I’m trying to think of something besides pizza. 10 boxes of pizza doesn’t sound that appetizing for 8 hours. Can you guys suggest some ideas? Please all my friends are 17. So we’ve outgrown some things like pin the tail on the donkey, a pinata, and marco polo. I"m going to bring a volleyball so we can play in the pool. The pool is heater, and there is a jacuuzi. There will be about 15~20 people there. I invited 30 people but I don’t know if they will all show up. The total should come out to less than $80 or so. I"m on a budget. I’m planning 10 boxes of pizza should be about $45, 12 2liter bottles~ $15. water bottles I already have at home. Please suggestions before the end of the night. I need to go buy the things tomorrow.
I actually live in california, it’s just the neighborhood is a more funded place? Iono how to explain it, but bluntyy it’s pretty nice. They have heated swimming pools, and the jacuuzi is pretty hot. The temperature will be about 50~70 degrees I believe… Anyways I decided to get chips. I’m not sure about the rest. If I get hotdogs, and cook it before hand it’d be pretty cold, or not warm at the party. I’m planning to go to the pool right after school so limited on time.
The pool/jacuuzi is heated, the temperature outside will be 50~75degrees***
As for chips I was planning maybe 3~5 bags? is enough? not sure what other food to get…

My husband and I are moving to Chicago this summer. We come from Ohio and this will be a big change for us. We are so overwhelmed with the apartment search. We honestly don’t know where to begin. We are looking for a safe and semi-quiet neighborhood where it’s easy walking distance to grocery stores, shops, restaurants, coffeehouses, etc. We don’t drink so bars are not needed. We’d like to live in a more "family-oriented" neighborhood since we plan on starting a family in a few years. Any help would be great because this search is so overhwleming!
As half of a young married couple myself, I’d say Lincoln Square or someplace around the Southport Corridor. Both are on the North Side of the city. Lincoln Square is a little further north and a little bit west. Both have cute shops and restaurants. There are also a good number of families in both areas. The Southport Corrider is technically part of Lakeview but it’s one of the tamer sections (as opposed to Wrigleyville).
I’d also suggest Andersonville for all the reasons the other posters have mentioned. It’s actually pretty close to Southport and Lincoln Square so you can’t go wrong with either of the neighborhoods.
Single family houses in all three neighborhoods are relatively expensive (starting at $800k) but you can find a 3 bedroom for around $450-$500k.
This classic Dry Rub is common fair for many Barbecue Pit Masters throughout the States. And for good reason. That sweet and salty taste, married to onion, garlic and cayenne powder, paprika, fresh ground peppercorn and celery seed, rubbed on your barbecue will make you a Barbecue legend in your neighborhood!
