Each Friday night after work, Bubba would fire up his outdoor grill
and cook venison steak. But all of Bubba’s neighbors were
Catholic–and since it was Lent, they were forbidden from eating
meat on Friday.
The delicious aroma from the grilled venison steaks was causing
such a problem for the Catholic faithful that they finally talked
to their priest. The priest came to visit Bubba and suggested that
he become a Catholic. After several classes and much study, Bubba
attended Mass—and the Priest sprinkled holy water over him and
said, "You were born a Baptist and raised as a Baptist but now you
are Catholic."
Bubba’s neighb ors were greatly relieved until Friday night arrived
and the wonderful aroma of grilled venison filled the neighborhood.
The priest was called immediately by the neighbors.
As the priest rushed into Bubba’s yard, clutching a rosary, and
prepared to scold him, he stopped and watched in amazement. There
stood Bubba, clutching a small bottle of holy water which he
carefully sprinkled over the grilling meat and chanted: "You wuz
born a deer, you wuz raised a deer, but now you is a catfish!"
very nice!! Thanks for the laugh!

Hi everyone, I’ m getting my yearly bonus in January and I’m thinking of travelling to NYC for a week or so. Is it cheaper then compared to other months?(Airlines, hotels etc.) will I be able to walk or will the place be all frozen? Where are the best malls in NYC? hints for restaurants(not classy, a nice grill would do), hotels and places to visit would be appreciated…Which neighborhoods are concidered more dangerous? Thank you all
If January is the only time you can get off work, then come on in spite of the weather. However, if you have a choice, then save you money and come in May, September or October.
It is a little cheaper in January, but for a good reason. The weather is very unpredictable here. You can have snow or 40 degrees and rain. You can also have beautiful sunny but cold days.
Since I live in NYC, my view is that NYC is better in January than Arkansas is on any day. LOL
There are few really dangerous neighborhoods in Manhattan anymore. Maybe you want to avoid Harlem at night if you are white, but just because you may feel like you stick out like a sore thumb and mark yourself as a tourist.

The business is a classic neighborhood bar & grill that has been a local fixture on a main thoroughfare for more than forty years. It features entertainment and dancing, video games, pool and has a jukebox. A bikini waitstaff tends to customers during the day. It has a full kitchen that serves bar food and steaks. The real estate is included in the sale price. There is plenty of parking and an advertising marquee readily seen by the thousands of vehicles that pass by on a daily basis. The business has been operated on an absentee basis by the owner in recent years and will benefit from the full-time energy and commitment from a new owner. Financing is already in place for a serious buyer with…..
I cannot find the address or the name. help would be appreaited.
The description could fit dozens of bars. Call the broker listing the ad and ask.
I wait tables at Applebee’s Neighborhood bar & grill & I’ve been there over a year. I’m one of the best & most knowledgeable servers at my store. I never screw up orders or make mistakes, I take care of my guests & to all of their needs, but yet I don’t seem to make as much money as I would hope. There are only a couple servers I work weekends with and no matter how business is they end up making over $150 dollars each night while I’m making maybe $80… $85. What’s their secret?!
As a customer, I appreciate servers that are quick to fill a need without interrupting conversations… like filling an empty glass without butting in mouth first. "See a need, Fill a need."
(ONly don’t fill the glass every time it is 1/4 of an inch from the top and think that filling the glass instead of doing everything else well is going to please the customer.)
Stop to chat with the customer and listen long enough so that a random thought or request can be stated that may ordinarily come to the customer when your back is turned because you are never available. Make eye contact with all your tables as often as time permits, so that people don’t feel that stupid urge to whistle or something that can be misunderstood as rudeness because they have been trying to flag you down for some time!
Some servers are more attuned than others and know that right away glasses aren’t going to be emptied, but that maybe 3/4th into the dinner may be a good time to refill. If more servers would bring carry home containers by so that I don’t have to ask for them so often that would be nice.
I can tell the difference between poured on thick kindness, and just even-keeled friendliness. The cheesy kindness drives me crazy! An honest smile, full eye contact, and delivering whatever is "promised" as promised..i.e. ‘I’ll get that for you right now", and really doing it as stated is what I really appreciate. Also, being prepared by carrying drink straws is cool.
The used car salesmanship never goes over well. The aloof ice-princess thing doesn’t work either!
It is nice when a connection can be made that breaks the ice so that there is something more that just a robotic… "I am your server, and you are the food eating people who may or may not leave me a tip, if I don’t mess up"…. a connection that puts everyone on the same level as all being…well – ordinary nice people!
About your co-workers… you may be doing everything right and they could just be lying or stealing or maybe flirting? Don’t stoop and don’t wonder too much about them or it will drive you crazy. Just do what you know and be yourself! ;D

How well do you know your neighbor?
Are they struggling?
Do communities care any more?
How about we start a community care program like neighborhood watch, called neighborhood eats.
I’ll bring the grill, some charcoal, some meat, let’s all eat. Spread it to the next neighbor. Hands across the neighborhood.
Yes.
I live next door to a restaruant.
