If you live in a safe (in relation to other nearby places) neighborhood within a village very populated with shops, restruants, schools, etc. At what age is it okay for a child (who’s lived in neighboring towns their entire life) to wander on their own? To walk one block to the pizza place or grocery store?2 blocks to the beach? 3 blocks to yourgurt land? etc?
We’re moving back to my orginal neighborhood and my niece is already itching to spread her wings. She’s 13..I have a toddler, so parenting a teen is new to me still…
lol just saw my spelling, sorry all!
I understand Silly, same here. Some areas are significantly better than others though ;p
You’re going to have to figure that out between the two of you (and any other adults involved in her life). At her age, I’d start out by talking to her about your responsibility to her as an adult, to make sure that she knows how to be safe, polite & healthy before she’s an adult herself. So, you (and the other adults in her life) have been teaching her to make good decisions since she was born.
If she thinks she’s ready for some freedom (and you are relatively confident that she can be safe with it), then let her have some. But, make sure that it’s clear to her that, if she shows that she is not yet able to make safe, healthy & polite decisions, you will have to step in, as a responsible adult & put limits on her freedom until she can learn how to do it properly.
What I was thinking about doing was make a sledding track outside because I have a hill next to my house, going in the hottub & going around the neighborhood & also ordering a pizza & maybe getting a bunch of boys number & talking to them. Haha. We are already going rollerblading saturday from 7-11 & movies at 3.
most teens go out with friends to the movies or to hang around at the mall (usually dont buy anything just chill and window shop) or you can stay inside and have a sleepover and rent movies, another not as popular thing to do is to go bowling or something like that also go to a local sports game. hope i helped.
Hey … my party: guy and gals, 35 or more people, almost all highschool …. There will be pizza, swimming in the neighborhood pool, movies and popcorn, and Capture the Flag .. oh, it’s in July …. so, just a come and go as you please, come no earlier than 11, stay no later than 5 … any other ideas? Just random games, kind of like Capture the Flag …. I don’t really want to have to buy alot of supplies or stuff ….. help?
Love the ice cream bar idea, definitely happening. Mmmhmmmm. thanks!! Keep answering!
Everything is appreciated. Except for the first answer. And what is ‘man hunt’?
Mmmhmmm. Twister!!!
I think, most likely, that everyone will spend a lot of the time outside, but I want to have stuff for people to do, either part of the time, or for some people who want to take a break from being crazy outside and do something in the cool inside AC ….. so yeah….
Good music, plenty of food, sometimes a way to make your own food – like a ‘make your own Sundae bar – where you have a variety of ingredients and ice cream and let people mix up their own creations in small dishes.
Don’t forget about indoor incase of bad weather – your activities sound mostly outdoor and active which is good. What will you have as a backup in case it rains? A party video game like Dance Dance Revolution, or indoor games and activities like Pictionary or word games?
Sounds like you have food pretty well covered, and activities – usually just add music and people will make their own fun. You can also have quieter areas where people can just chill and hang out when they are tired of running and activity things.
There is a great book called ‘Junkyard sports’ that teaches you how to make your own games out of sutff you have lying around – that’s another idea.
Since you’re planning ahead, I think people will have a great time!
Best of luck!
Cast >> You(!) and ???????
SItuation >> It’s the middle of the night, the quietest, darkest hour, light of the crescent moon and little visibility. You are crossing a narrow, long, wooden bridge and below you is a deep, dark, river(and you’ve suddenly forgotten your swimming knowledge,if any).On both sides of the bridge there is a creepy, dark forest. And while you’re walking on that bridge, suddenly you hear footsteps….What Happens Next ??
Note :: It’s NOT your friendly-neighbourhood pizza delivery boy !
Like they said in "Detroit Rock City.";
"This is how horror movies start."
"This is also how porn movies start."
Some companies tell their employees how they are going to do business. Well here at Farrelli’s Pizza, we solicit their opinions on how they think we should operate, as was the case at our recent Farrelli’s Neighborhood Care. This was a discussion intended to generate ideas about how we should do business in 2010, and we are excited to develop this year’s business strategy based on the outcome of this event!

We are in need of some recommendations for breakfast, lunch and dinner during our trip. We are used to the small town restaurants where the food is great and prices are pretty cheap. We enjoy pizza, seafood, a good burger, bbq, Italian food, tapas, steak, but don’t want to break our budget either(about $50-70 day). One day we want to go to somewhere nice but the rest of stay we need to stay within our budget.
There are always neighborhood places that have good food for reasonable prices if you’re just looking for dinner (i.e. not a top name restaurant.) All suggestions don’t have to be local places but I’ve always found that the best places are usual local. I’ve already begin to check Metromix.com
I want to avoid tourist traps such as Rainforest and Hard Rock Cafe’s. Also want to avoid overcrowded places, smoke fulled bars, etc. What are some places we shouldn’t miss?? We are planning to stay at Hotel Monaco if that helps.
If you are going to be downtown at The Monaco, it will be hard not to stay away from tourists. First, out of principle, stay away from places you can go at home:
- Pizza – Gino’s East is cliche, but good. I prefer Lou Malnatti’s. Those two are too bad of a walk from the Monaco.
- Burgers – Boston Blackies is said to have the best burgers, but I have had similar burgers at different places. But it may be worth checking out. It is around Monroe and the river – again, not a bad walk from the Monaco.
- Tapas – there is a Cafe Ba Ba Re Bob (sp?) that is good and busy. It is a little touristy, you may have better luck checking citysearch.
- Steak – there are many steak houses: Smith & Wollensky, Morton’s, Ruth’s Criss, and many more. You can go to many towns and go to one. But there are som Brazilian steakhouses, that are comparable in price and may be a little more a treat because they are not as widely known as the steak houses. Fago Do Chao (one again, I don’t know the spelling) is one.
- Misc. – Someone mentioned Lou Mitchell’s. It is great for breakfast. I would highly recommend that if you take any pick from the answers here, that would be the one.
I have a Chuck E Cheese birthday party planned for my daughter a week after her actually birth date. This party is for our family and a few friends. But on my daughter’s actual birth date I’d like to do something to acknowledge that. So I thought of just having a few of her neighborhood friends over for pizza, pinata, and cake. Most likely the party will be held inside so I just thought I’d do something sort of easy and quick. The kids range in age from 5 (my daughter) to 8. So I don’t think playing games would work out too well, it would be too chaotic. I also thought of getting a new movie that the kids might like to watch. There will be about 8 kids total.
Any other quick and simple ideas for an indoor birthday?
thanks!
Cris
I really think you’re going to have a tough time getting them to sit for a movie. When you get that many kids together, they want to play. Why don’t you do a few games and have dollar store prizes instead. You could have a movie playing in the background. But I seriously would reconsider this idea. If you decide to go the route of games here is a site that has lots of different games listed. These are "Fairy Party" games, but don’t be fooled there are a ton of great games you can call them whatever you want.

okay, so the dream starts out where im in the mafia, and im trying to kill all these guy. they are hard to go down and they don’t stay dead. so after a while i go into a convenience store to buy some ****, and i notice this girl in her underwear, with small breasts, telling me shes going to expose me, and then starts mocking me. i make a note to execute her. when i go home, my home is my grandmas house for some reason., i notice my best friend, presumably drunk, standing outside taking a pee. he starts to sing and children’s voices come out of no where and sing along with him. i note that no one sings along with me.
so i go inside, and my brother is sitting in an armchair, and next to him is a box of cold cuts, which our dog is digging through. i scold him for not keeping a better eye on her. next thing i remember im walking in my old neighbourhood, carrying a box of micro chips, which are supposed to be used to subdue this guy, i don’t really know who he is. i can see him in the distance fighting some adversaries and i want to help him so i start smashing the chips on the ground so they cant be used against him. but its no use, they take him away at oprah Winfrey’s command. yes you read that right.
i go to my old house, where oprah lives for some reason, and go to find her ***. two ladies tell em to go through this hall way to get to her, so i do. i start walking through a room which leads to another room. i keep walking through rooms till i notice that one room is an exact replica of my grandmas living room. i stop and examine the room and notice someone has left a pornographic magazine where the movies were kept.
in the next room there is a small bed with oprah, presumably, lying naked on her stomach, and a naked white man in his early to mid 30s lying on his back with just a towle covering his junk. the two women bring in a small boy. i notice there is half a pizza on the dresser and i am encouraged to eat it. as im eating it i fell my whole mouth is full. oprah leaves and the man starts talking to the boy telling him he should go to hollywood and get himself an agent who will tell him everything he should do. when i try to speak he yells at me because my mouth is full.
after the boy leaves he starts talking to me in a tone which suggests he is both afraid and scared. he tells me that im right (in my actions and beliefs) and that oprah is wrong, but he dosnt know how that could be so. he tells me to exit out the window. i jump out and land on the deck. im looking for my shoes. i try to go back in the house but oprah fiercely defends the doorway. i find my shoes on the deck and leave.
I love Oprah Winfrey……………….. Full Stop…..!!!!!!! Oh! I also like pizza a lot.
Hi, my friend at work had her purse stolen in a Pizza place’s parking lot after she exited the pizza place. She just purchased the pizza and walked out the door and was about to get into her car. She put the pizza on the roof of her car and 2 guys came up and ripped the purse off of her shoulder. It is a bad neighborhood. Can she sue the pizza place (because the parking lot is their property) for being negligent in not providing security?
The store’s duty of care did not extend to safeguard against the criminal activity of a third party, by providing its own security for the parking lot. This falls within a well established principle of negligence. As well, it is just one of the many hurdles your friend faces. So no case.
