Not looking for chain restaurants, strip mall locales or pretentious places. Looking for places with good food, charm and character – basically some ‘hidden’ gems around the city.
Bagolac on 61st ave off McLeod trail across from Chinook mall, excellent Vietnamese
Red carpet steak house has a fantastic steak sandwich on Glenmore and Elbow sw
the garlic clove on 4th street…wicked food
4th street sw has some really nice locally owned restaurants
There is a fabulous supremely dumpy korean restaurant on 17th ave further up going west on 17th on the left hand side great home cooking
up around that way is a gas station can’t remember the name it is a blue and white sign. it has take out home made greek food…soooo good it is on the same side as the korean place but up a little further. References : lived in calgary for 15 years
I good way to find those hidden gems is to check out the Calgary Restaurants by Neighbourhood. Click on the name of each restaurant to see what they serve, atmosphere, prices and menu. It’s a great tool for finding those unpretentious places lurking in each neighbourhood. I have found some of the best places check out this website.
