I am going to Montreal in late March. I would like to try the boutique hotel experience and have found some great places in Old Montreal and in the Lation Quarter. Which area would be better to stay in during the month of March? I want to be near things so that I don’t have to drive around or take too many cab or train rides. I don’t want it to be completely dead, but I don’t mind a little quiet. I would like any hotel or restaurant suggestions you have, but really need to know which neighborhood is the best during March.
The Latin Quarter is much more enjoyable than Old Montreal, which gets too many American tourists. The Latin Quarter has or is close to many excellent restaurants and the major French shopping streets of small shops and boutiques.

Look up for obiviously the downtown area or Cote des neiges area near University of Montreal.
Use Google Street View and type cote-des-neiges..then once in there drive down all the to St-Catherine St.. that takes you downtown and it’s usually a 10 minute bus drive..but you’ve got EVERYTHING there, whether you’re talking about food, places to visit, schools, Mont-Royal mountain, downtown.

I’m not from Montreal, but while there last week, I walked past the cutest hotel in Old Montreal called Le Petit Hotel.

If you’re only looking for those two, the best is the Latin Quartier the best positions are close to metro Berri-UQaM or Metro Sherbrook.
Hi Check on google maps, put Montreal, Canada. Zoom in and look for station Berri UQaM. Then check if your hotel is close to the metro station or any metro station. You can get a metro pass for a week and reach from there in minutes to all the main attractions.
Actually you can use google maps with public transit option to get the direction using bus and metro and at what time to get them. Buses are included with the metro pass.
You like it quiet? So check again that your hotel doesn’t face, st-denis street, nor St-Catherine, nor Sherbrook street. These are the most crawded.
Fairmont hotel and W hotel are in downtown close to all and are very quiet.

if ur gona live in downtown Quartier Latin and Old montreal be ready to pay alot. its REALY expensive there upto 2000 a month where as if you stay in NDG just 10 minutes metro ride away you can pay a minimum of 400 dollars for a pretty good 1 bedroom apartment! think it over and visit craigslist
