Wow, I idolised SS … Wow, I idolised SS as a kid back in New Zealand back in the mid/late 70s, we knew nearly every song! SS back then was alot better then than alot of todays crap! Had to have a chuckle at the dentist & the patient of which niether of them have any teeth!! Lol, classic, awesome stuff….!!!
Superb, just shows … Superb, just shows why Sesame Street was always so successful! Note the high production standard, properly played music etc. Who says the Americans are stupid?? And, yes, Bob McGrath does sing beautifully, perfect diction.
(Dentist) “Do you … (Dentist) “Do you know what’s the best to go to the dentist?? Tooth-irty.” “Do you know why dentists are so sad?? Because they’re always looking down in the mouth.”
I have a pretty good dental joke myself. Stop me if you’ve heard this one.
Super cool! … Super cool! Always loved this theme. But this might be a newer version because Bob appears much older, but it’s still good! Thanks for sharing Nanto Vision!
I was 5 when I … I was 5 when I first saw this one, I only remembered it cuz of the Guys Bus leavin without him, like what would happen to Ernest P. Worrell when He would park a Car but forgets to put the Brake on, or just Park it.

The Postman and the …
The Postman and the Fireman are the people featured on the vinyl 45 of this song.
“Who else is in your neighborhood?”
There is a second part of the vinyl of the record that features the Garbage Man and the Grocer. I feel vintage Sesame Street 45s are very collectable.

One day, a carpenter went to see his dentist, and the dentist said, “You know, you’re just in time for appointment.”
And the carpenter said, “Yeah, I know.”
And the dentist said, “But why did you bring your saw here??”
And the carpenter said, “Because you said my teeth needed to be cleaned.”

This song (once I got older) caused me to think of all sorts of ‘other people’ you could meet in your neighborhood.
My sister one year got a music-box from Santa that had this song in it.
Though of the various versions, Bob is the person I always associate with this song.

Did anybody hear Bob at 0:42? “Just sing.” He was getting tired of hearing jokes and wanted the dentist to sing already.

Absolutely right. …
Absolutely right.
Children are patronized like never before.
I believe little kids would understand the comical light caustic wit of the bus driver. At least in their own way.
After Barney the Dinosaur et al came along it was downhill from there for toddler TV.
