What are some nice, safe suburban neighborhoods in Vancouver?

I’m considering moving to Vancouver, but I’d like to have a home in a suburb on the outskirts instead of an apartment in the middle of the city. What are some nice neighborhoods or subdivisions that are safe, close enough to the inner city, have nice people, etc. ?

Kitsilano – gorgeous neighborhood area. The homes are just lovely.

Hastings East, Fairview, Kitsilano, Kerrisdale, Fraserview – most Vancouver suburbs are perfectly safe and if you choose your location close to a sky train or bus route, you’ll have easy access to downtown.

North Vancouver is amazing really. Lynn Valley or Deep Cove are subdivisions of N.Van, with some really beautiful trails, right near the ocean, friendly people, and just a bridge away from downtown.

I live in Ladner. I’ve lived in a few suburbs Ladner, Tsawwassen, Richmond. I like Ladner the best. It is pretty close to the city especially by transit, but it is a smaller community. Very safe. We are raising our 2 kids here, my husband teaches a an elementary school in Ladner. We are very happy in this area :o )
