The 12South Neighborhood Home Tour is an annual benefit presented by the 12South Neighborhood Association, a non-profit 501(c)(3) whose goal is to improve the local community, within the boundaries of Wedgewood Avenue and Gale Lane, 12South Avenue South and Vaulx Lane.

The 12South Neighborhood Association is pleased to announce its Seventh Annual 12South Neighborhood Tour. The Tour will take place Saturday, April 17, 2010 from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.

The 12South Neighborhood is a diverse community featuring historic homes, a vibrant merchant district, and the historic Sunnyside Mansion at Sevier Park. Each year, 12South exhibits homes ranging from classic restorations and beautiful, historic homes preserved for decades, to contemporary renovations and new homes that mirror a unique and creative character indicative to a vibrant artistic presence in the neighborhood.

This year, the Tour features eight homes with accompanying gardens, whose combination of historic architectural features and modern designs mirror the neighborhoods equally vibrant past and present. As a new feature, a self guided walking tour of both the newly built and historic commercial buildings on 12th Avenue South will be included in the Tour booklet, with information about original, interim, and current uses. To celebrate the Tour, many merchants on 12th Avenue South will be offering special same-day discounts and incentives to Tour guests who present their tour tickets.

Proceeds from the tour will benefit neighborhood improvement and beautification projects. Some of these include street/alley clean-up, planting and maintenance of new trees and landscaping along 12th Ave South and interior residential streets, and activities promoting community involvement and awareness of issues affecting neighbors in 12South.

In addition, the 12South Neighborhood Association is pleased to offer free tickets to members of the United States Armed Forces and the Metro Police and Fire Departments and their spouses who please present official military, police or fire department ID at the point of sale.
